Before I go on… I just want to call notice to the fact that my blog is now a .COM! Thanks to Rain, my wonderful loving man. He gave me an early Christmas present, which was to upgrade to a premium account! I’m flattered that he thinks enough of my little blog to do something so sweet for me. With having a wee one, it really helps keep me sane some days.. I also want to thank you, who ever you may be, for reading! I’m grateful that you do!
Now, on with the frames.
I’ve been carrying around these frames for years, and the only thing that has changed about them was where I was storing them. Under the bed, in a closet, in a steamer trunk… frames that were half broken (well, not broken exactly.. you just had no way of hanging them), and, well, ugly. Maybe not ugly, but unattractive to me anyway. No zip.. no pizazz… just, blah. I figured I’d eventually come up with something to use them for.. after all, the glass was not only in great shape… but it was THERE!! I say that, because I have tons of empty frames hanging out (ha), sans glass, waiting for me to do something with.
…Anyway.
I decided one day I needed to empty my steamer trunk, and there were the frames… sitting atop the mound of other crap I’ve squirreled away. So I said to myself, fuck it. Either I do something with these, or I get rid of them. So I traced out the frames in to one of my 8000000000000 sketchbooks, and jotted down a couple of cutesy little things to do as water colour paintings.. then all I did, was spray paint the frames with some pink paint I had (well, I got Rain to while I was feeding the baby to be honest), then glued on some ribbon I had so I could actually hang them. I could have done more to them.. beads, sequins, used chicken bones.. whatever you please. There’s a lot going on in the paintings though and I didn’t want to detract from that. Makes sense, non?
In case you’re wondering who the cat and rabbit are.. I had a bunny named Betty who lived to be almost 13, and she was awesome. The cat, was one I had named Vito, and he…. well, he was eaten by a coyote the first fall we lived here.. he was my best friend. Both were kindred spirits and I miss them dearly, and I thought this would be a cute way to have them around even though they’re gone.
How about you? Do you hoard semi-useless things like I do? What are they, and do you have any ideas of how you’ll use them? A bit of paint can go a long way, don’t forget!
